Mindfulness and the Science of Habit Change Weekend Workshop

Mindfulness and Habit Change with Mary Linda McBride February 10-12

“We are what we repeatedly do.”

Socrates said so nearly 2500 years ago and 21s t century neuroscientists have proven him right. When we repeatedly entertain certain thoughts and behaviors, we wire in the neural connectivity to create habits. And as we know, neurons that wire together fire together, making these habits a type of conditioning that is resistant to change.

Mindfulness can help shine the light on this conditioning and support us in creating new habits of mind.

In this workshop, we will explore:  The science of habit change, the role that willpower plays (not as much as you might think), setting and nurturing your intentions, cultivating the ability to focus your attention, and fostering self-compassion to build resilience and support change.
